03 / SESSION HISTORY

Every session, saved.

Sessions are saved automatically when the app goes to background. Open any past session in the same viewer as Live.
  1. The app startsA new session begins, with its own identifier.
  2. The app goes to the backgroundThe session is saved in the app’s Documents folder. Each save overwrites the same file: one launch, one file.Dx_4f2a9c1.json
  3. The next launchA new session, a new file. The previous one stays in History.

Exporting from Live saves it too

No need to wait for the background. When you export from Live, the session is saved to History first. Export then shares that same file; Safe Export shares an encrypted copy, which never appears in History.

Two kinds of files

Recorded here, or received.

  • This Phone

Sessions recorded by the app on this device. The name comes from the session identifier.

    Dx_4f2a9c1.json

  • Imported

Files picked with Import trace. A copy is kept with the IMP_ prefix; importing the same name again replaces it.

    IMP_qa-transfer-bug.json

AllThis PhoneImportedThe Source filter shows all files, or only one kind. The newest file comes first.

An encrypted file (Safe Export) asks for its password when you open it.

What you can do with a file

Open, share, replay, delete.

  • Open

The same viewer as Live: screens, search, filters, request details.

  • Share

As plain JSON, or encrypted with a password.

  • Replay

Serve its responses to your app, in Strict or Ignore query mode.

  • Delete

Remove one file, or every file at once with Clear All, after a confirmation.

Cleaning up, today

Deleting is manual, for now.

Every launch adds a file and nothing is removed on its own. After a few days of testing, History fills up with sessions nobody needs.

Delete the files you no longer need one by one, or empty History with Clear All. Deleted files cannot be recovered.

Coming next

Automatic cleanup, your way.

We plan to add a cleanup configuration to the SDK, so History stays useful without manual work. It is not available yet.

  • Planned

A limit per day and per week

Keep at most a number of sessions per day, and per week.

  • Planned

    A maximum age

Delete sessions older than a number of days.

  • Planned

    Oldest first

When a limit is reached, the oldest sessions are removed first, automatically.

  • Planned

    Files you choose to keep

Leave imported files, or a session you are replaying, out of the cleanup.
